List is sorted by highest rating and closest in distance from our house.  Our favorites are highlighted in yellow.
We recommend that you stay overnight at the destination if the travel time is Greater than > 3 hours (Seattle, Mt. Rainier, Crater Lake, Painted Hills)
4 of our favorite vineyards are listed.  There are over 100 wineries in the Willamette Valley (about 30-40 minutes from our home)
Pinot Noir (red wine) is the main grape grown.  Each winery offers a 'tasting' where a 'wine flight' of 4-6 wines are served for $10-$15.

Dahlia Festival (Swan Island)  Aug 26-28, Sep 2-4 Link Garden Acres of Dahlia flowers.  Amazing fields of color.  No charge event.  End of August. $ 5 29 0.5 South
Columbia River Gorge Link Views - Drive Beautiful historic Columbia River Gorge road passes several waterfalls including Multnomah Falls. $ 5 40 0.7 North
Archery Summit Winery Link Winery In the Willamette Valley, offers a great tour (with tasting) but expensive ($60 / person), great views.  Tasting on it's own is $20 for a flight.  Expensive but exceptional wine with amazing views. $$$ 5 40 0.7 West

Silver Falls State Park Link Hiking 7 mile hike with 10 waterfalls.  You can walk behind the largest (South) waterfall which is a short hike from the parking lot.  Don't miss the North Falls (Upper and Lower).  You can skip the hike to North Falls by using the North Falls parking area. $$ 5 60 1.0 South

Evergreen Air and Space Museum Link Museum Large museum in the middle of the Willamette Valley Wine region.  Planes, spacecraft and Howard Hughes HUGE Hercules wooden plane (Spruce Goose).  Separate water park at the same location. $$ 4 40 0.7 West

Mount Rainier Link Views - Hiking Best national park.  Wildflowers (Aug) and Fall colors (Sept).  Great hikes.  Too far for a day trip. $ 4 160 2.7 North
